6 Real Estate CRM Apps Checked. 2026 Reviews Tell a Worse Story
The star rating on a CRM's App Store page is a lifetime average, and for most real estate CRM apps it tells you how the app worked years ago. On October 28, 2026, we pulled Apple's US App Store data for six apps agents use to work leads from their phones: Follow Up Boss, Lofty, BoldTrail, the legacy kvCORE app, Sierra Interactive and CINC Agent. Then we read every 2026 written review Apple's public review feed returned. Follow Up Boss carries 4.3 stars from 392 ratings, yet its 13 written reviews from 2026 average 2.4. BoldTrail's app sits at 1.6 stars, and all 7 of its 2026 reviews gave it 1 star. Below is the 20-minute check we ran, step by step, so you can repeat it on any CRM before you sign a 12-month contract and find out in a parking lot that the app won't load your inbox.
Which Real Estate CRM App Is Rated Best in 2026?
By lifetime stars, Sierra Interactive leads at 4.8 from 1,741 ratings, followed by CINC Agent at 4.6 and Follow Up Boss at 4.3. By 2026 written reviews, the order changes: Sierra's two average 4.0, Follow Up Boss's 13 average 2.4, and BoldTrail's seven are all 1-star. Only Sierra holds up on both counts, and it hasn't shipped an update in 18 months.
| App | Lifetime stars | Ratings | Last update | 2026 written reviews |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sierra Interactive | 4.8 | 1,741 | Apr 29, 2025 | 2, average 4.0 |
| CINC Agent | 4.6 | 804 | Oct 20, 2026 | 1, average 1.0 |
| Follow Up Boss | 4.3 | 392 | Oct 19, 2026 | 13, average 2.4 |
| kvCORE (legacy app) | 4.2 | 509 | Jun 10, 2025 | None returned |
| Lofty Real Estate Platform | 3.9 | 228 | Oct 12, 2026 | None returned |
| BoldTrail | 1.6 | 75 | Sep 30, 2026 | 7, average 1.0 |
Here's how we built that table, so you can check it. Ratings, rating counts and update dates come from each app's listing on Apple's US App Store, pulled October 28, 2026. Written reviews come from Apple's public customer-review feed, which returns up to the 50 most recent written reviews per app. That feed returned no written reviews at all for Lofty or kvCORE, so we can't score their 2026 sentiment and haven't guessed. The samples are small. Thirteen reviews won't tell you an app's true quality, and the people who write them are a self-selected slice of users. What they do show is direction. A 4.3 lifetime average next to a 2.4 average this year means something changed, and you want to know what before your team depends on it. We used iPhone data only, since Apple publishes the review feed; Android ratings may differ.
What the 20-Minute App Check Gives You
You'll finish with a one-page read on whether a CRM's mobile app will hold up for your team: how current it is, what agents complained about this year, and whether it passes the one test that decides speed to lead. That matters because the phone is where the CRM either gets used or gets skipped. NAR's 2026 REALTORS® Technology Report, a survey of 1,200 agents published September 22, 2026, found that only 46% of agents report using a CRM, that 81% prioritize tools that save time, and that the learning curve is their biggest pain point with new tech. NAR deputy chief economist Jessica Lautz put it plainly: "the two payoffs they want most are time and a smoother experience for their clients." An app that agents give up on hands both of those back to their personal text messages.
Before you start, line up three things: a demo or trial login for the CRM you're evaluating, your own phone with notifications turned on, and a second phone or a colleague who can text and email you as a fake lead. Set aside 20 minutes, and run the check before the sales call ends, not after you've signed.
Step 1: Read the Rating Count and the Update Date
Start on the App Store listing and skip the stars for a minute. Look at two numbers first: how many ratings the average rests on, and when the last version shipped. Sierra Interactive's 4.8 rests on 1,741 ratings, a solid base, but its last update shipped April 29, 2025. The legacy kvCORE app holds a 4.2 from 509 ratings and was last updated June 10, 2025, while its replacement, the BoldTrail app, launched in June 2024 and has collected a 1.6 from 75 ratings. That pairing is the trap. An agent searching "kvCORE" finds a 4.2-star app that hasn't changed in 16 months, while the app BoldTrail is actually shipping updates to rates below 2. Any app that's gone 12 months without an update deserves a direct question in the demo: is it still being developed, or is it being replaced?
Step 2: Sort the Reviews by Most Recent
The lifetime average blends every year the app has existed. The Follow Up Boss app launched in 2015, so its 4.3 includes a decade of reviews. Sort by most recent and count only this year's. Of the 13 written reviews posted in 2026, 8 gave 1 or 2 stars, and 5 described slow loading, freezing or timeouts. One reviewer in August wrote that "Follow up boss as a browser and system is incredible. The app is atrociously slow," adding, "I spend 45-60 seconds at a time trying to load my inbox." Another, in September, said the app "will not allow you to sign in unless you have a zillow pro account," a claim worth putting to the sales rep directly. The good reviews are real too: a June reviewer called it "the single greatest piece of technology that I have ever used to build my business." Your job isn't to average them. It's to spot the complaint that repeats.
Step 3: Run the Notification-to-Reply Test
This is the test that matters most, and it takes five minutes. Have your colleague text and email your demo account as a new lead. Then, on your phone, time three things: how long until the notification arrives, whether tapping it opens the actual message, and how long until you can send a reply from inside the app. Three of BoldTrail's seven 2026 reviewers describe failing at the second step. A June 2026 reviewer wrote that the app "notifies me of emails/texts but when I go to view them in the app. Nothing. No history, no messages, nothing." A January reviewer said, "I can't access any of my contact or see any messages." A Follow Up Boss reviewer in April reported missing "several important communications because the inbox doesn't notify you right away." If the reply takes longer than a minute in a calm demo, it'll take longer on a showing day. Our 90-second lead response workflow only works if the app clears this test.
- Your colleague texts the demo account as a new lead, and you start a timer.
- Stop the timer when the notification lands, and write down the seconds.
- Tap the notification and confirm it opens that lead's message, not a blank screen or the home tab.
- Reply from inside the app and confirm the reply shows in the lead's history on the desktop.
- Repeat with an email lead and a photo, since two 2026 Follow Up Boss reviews flagged texting and media problems.
Step 4: Ask What the App Costs and Who Can Log In
The app isn't always part of the plan you're quoted. Sierra Interactive's pricing page lists the mobile app as "Included with Dialer upgrade," and on the $299.95-a-month Starter plan that dialer costs another $100 a month. Essential and Growth include it. We ran the full numbers for both vendors in our Sierra Interactive vs BoldTrail pricing comparison. Login rules matter as much as price. The Follow Up Boss reviewer who couldn't sign in without a Zillow Pro account may have hit an account-setup issue rather than a policy, and Follow Up Boss is owned by Zillow, Inc., the publisher named on its App Store listing. Either way, ask the rep in writing: does every agent on my team get full app access on this plan, and does any of them need a separate account to sign in? A yes on the first and a no on the second is the only answer that should close the deal.
Mistakes That Make the App Check Useless
Most teams skip the check entirely, but the ones who run it tend to make the same three errors. The first is trusting the search result. Search "kvCORE" in the App Store and the legacy app with its 4.2 shows up, even though BoldTrail's newer app is the one getting updates. Always confirm which app the vendor wants your team to install. The second is testing on Wi-Fi in the office. Run Step 3 on cellular data in your car, because that's where your agents will be. The third is letting one agent's opinion stand in for the team's. A 2026 BoldTrail reviewer wrote, "I am just having to use my phone instead and bypass the CRM altogether." That's the outcome you're trying to prevent: leads living in personal text threads where the team lead can't see them. Have at least two agents run the test, including the least technical person on the team.
A CRM app that passes all four steps still needs leads in it to earn its keep. RobinFlow builds home-valuation funnels and seller-lead campaigns for agents and teams, so the app you just vetted has seller conversations to open. Start your RobinFlow onboarding, and if you're still choosing the CRM itself, compare the field in our real estate CRM comparison.
